Memorial Day Project

What did you do this Memorial Day?
And were your activities influenced by the Pandemic?

Mask #1 is tried on for fit

At our home, the sewing machine was brought out.
YouTube was consulted for a pattern.
Remnants and scraps of Ghanaian cloth were rounded up.
No trips to the fabric store were required for this project.
Pieces of garden wire were up-cycled into the mask nose piece.
And the day sped by as plans to make one mask turned into four masks.

The almost finished Masks

It turns out that both of us can wear a medium. So, we now have an interchangeable set of 4 washable masks to share. This particular mask pattern was chosen at least partially because it was touted to be good for avoiding fogging your eyeglasses. So far only two of our masks have ties. One has a shoestring which works great and one has elastic. We are still undecided which method of attachment we prefer.

My Ghana flag bandanna made a nice easy mask previous to the sewing day
