Spring Travel

April - and the long awaited arrival of warmer weather in the Pacific Northwest (PNW) - was a wonderful time to be in the Portland area to visit our ministry partners. Because the weather was so amazing we were able to walk in beautiful places often and enjoy nature as well as this lovely art on one of the park trails we walked.

Perhaps you may recognize some of our friends as you scroll through this post; we’ll start with Casey and Abbe and their family, who graciously invited us to stay at their home throughout our trip.  They were both friends and fellow students of our daughter at John Brown University; Casey and his roommate shared their dorm room with John during one of his visits there and Abbe went on a Discovery trip with us. In addition to partnering in our ministry for many years, they serve with Lahash, another wonderful ministry organization.  While we were there, they told us they probably would not be serving in missions without our influence.

Casey invited us to speak with the Lahash staff about longevity in ministry; we really enjoyed interacting with them and answering their questions.  I think we were all encouraged; I know we had fun.

Our relationship with David and Denise - who are Wycliffe (WBT) colleagues - is also a long one.  Denise is a Papua New Guinea Discovery team alumni who spent a few nights at our home in California years ago when her passport got lost.  David led a Discovery team, and they served overseas with their family for many years and are currently in the process of raising additional support so they can serve as field coordinators.

Geoff and Kelly were our colleagues in Ghana for several years when we provided hospitality at the Guest House.  They took us to a wonderful food truck lot -one of our favorite things to do!  Besides enjoying Middle Eastern, Indian and Korean food, we engaged in several lovely hours talking about our faith journeys together and being brought up to speed on family news.

Jeff and Debbie started partnering with us when we first joined WBT 40 years ago; they are the only friends who have been with us throughout our entire ministry!!!!  Their faithful commitment to us and our Wycliffe ministry and their friendship over all those years has been such a blessing to us.  We enjoyed catching up with them while taking a short hike to Bridal Veil Falls.

Being with these long time friends and partners was so much fun; we look forward to seeing more of you in the not too distant future.
