In case you are wondering why translation resources might be used for other English versions... let me borrow from the "is the effort worthwhile" section of the Seed Company site:
"There are over 500 languages in Nigeria, which means Nigerians frequently find themselves interacting with someone who doesn’t speak their language. In this case, they need a common language in order to communicate, which is how Nigerian Pidgin developed.
Nigerian Pidgin emerged as a fusion of foreign (mostly English) languages and indigenous languages. Nigerian Pidgin is often referred to as “broken English” and considered an inferior form of communication.
While Nigerian Pidgin is usually a person’s second language and has a relatively simple structure, it has increasingly become more complex and well-ordered with established grammatical rules and a broad vocabulary. While
Nigerian Pidgin is accepted as a language in its own right, the questions still arise, “With all the English influence, can’t Nigerian Pidgin speakers just use English Bibles? Is the painstaking effort of Bible translation worth it?” Nigerian Pidgin has sufficient differences to distinguish it from standard English. English words have been infused with meaning by the Nigerian culture and the structure of the language more closely resembles the influence of indigenous languages. Therefore, it would be nearly impossible for Nigerian Pidgin speakers to derive meaning from a standard English Bible.
As the translators see more and more people embracing the Nigerian Pidgin New Testament, they realize the effort is entirely worthwhile. People are gaining access to the truths of the Gospel in a language that is meaningful to them. The team is eager to provide Nigeria Pidgin speakers with access to the whole of God’s Word."
