Unscheduled Appointments

At least partly as a result of our detour to Casablanca, Morocco... I met a new friend; Rev Okongo. I had been seeing this tall African man dressed in a typical Northern Ghanaian style smock and skull cap... and I had greeted him briefly on the plane and knew he was headed toward Tamale... and I probably would not have had a chance to talk at length except for our detour. There are really too many coincedences to ignore: This African pastor is originally from Kenya is now living in my hometown of Tucson! This alone shocked me as we conversed in Mohammad V airport near Casablanca! He was on every flight we had been on since leaving LAX... he is coming to Tamale to work with Oral Bible storying which is currently big in Wycliffe as well as the broader world of missions... and he does training for African leaders to plant simple home churches, which we have just recently become involved with, and although we are newbies at this, Rev Okongo has been talking about cell churches for over 17 years! We will have initial meetings with this new pastor friend as well as some of our long term ministry partners in and near Tamale... please pray for wisdom as we explore whether or not this may be a good fit as far as working together in the future.

We met today with the cultural centre "home church" this afternoon and it is a very interesting group... kind of the African equivelent of our own home church;-)
Thanks for your thoughts, prayers and partnership in this work... exciting things are possible! Pray we can keep our eyes open and keep following where God leads us day by day.

I am choosing joy and enjoying the ride under the harmattan skies of Tamale,
mr wumbe
