After 6 weeks of Discovering ministry, it was time for our debrief. The team got to do a lot of travel to important and beautiful places in Ghana while we helped each other make sense of what we experienced on the trip and to get ready for our Next Steps into mission. This picture is of the Cape Coast Castle built in the 1600's |
Church services were a highlight. |
We had lots of different accommodations during our trip. This is a guest house in Cape Coast. |
We stayed at an orphanage too |
Our good friends Richard & Charlott Ekem hosted us at their home in Winneba. Charlott is a fantastic cook and they are both role models of business people pouring their lives and influence into ministry for the long haul. |
in the midst of all the travel, we had lots of team meetings and discussions... |
A highlight of debrief in Tamale is dinner at Schaefers home, where 2 generations of Bible translators serve faithfully having been involved significantly with at least 4 different translations of the N.T. plus consulting on OT projects... quite an inspiration! |
Kakum National Park is beautiful to see the rain forrest from tree top heights. |
this is the road to Nzelezu |
Nzelezu, this was my first time ever to visit this unique village on stilts in the Western Region of Ghana. According to tribal legend, a giant snail led their ancestors to settle in the middle of this lake. |

thanks to all our partners for praying and otherwise contributing to a great Discovery team. Our thanks also go to Maame Efua & Papa Andoh for helping John lead the trip! |
This comment from one of our team participants helps sum up:
"Hmmmm lots to think about. But I am very very grateful for the debriefing as a team in Ghana - I know I said before I was impressed by it, but I really want to reiterate that - I am so grateful for everything you made us think about and do and process/etc.
I am planning to one day work in Bible translation. If you think of me I would sure appreciate prayer."
