Current Ramsey news and prayer requests

Time for a bit of an update on a more personal note here.  Shevawn returned to California April 30, after realizing her hope of getting to spend some time with baby George and his family after he came home from the hospital. Shortly before her return, we had agreed that we could proceed with our original plans for both of us to go to Ghana, so we decided to take a week’s stay-cation before entering into the final stretch. May is always stressful for us (we have come to realize that we really have 3 months where we live/eat/breathe the Ghana trip, not just the two months we are actually with the team!) and we would really appreciate your prayers as we try to do everything that needs doing before we depart in 5 weeks, both at work and at home. The to do list is longer than usual, and the time is so short! That’s the general gist of it; here are a couple of more particulars:

• We are still wondering who will or will not stay in our condo while we are gone; we would appreciate your prayers about that.

• Peace in the midst of the chaos and pressure (I’m actually surprised by the peace we’re experiencing most of the time…it’s when we look at the to do list that we start to freak out. Breathe…trust…take it one day at a time! We’re sure most of you can relate!)

• We are not the only ones working on this trip who have had other concerns vying for their attention. Michael, our colleague in Ghana who is helping to pull things together from there, recently had his 4 ½ year old son at the hospital for two weeks, so he is feeling the pressure of being behind too. He asked us to pray for them as they are still interviewing prospective Ghanaian participants; specifically he has told us that they are looking for more ladies. Uncle Alex (another of our Ghanaian colleagues) reports that when they went to interview a number of the ladies in one city who had expressed interest in the program, they suddenly backed out when they were told the program would take them to the Northern part of Ghana. So they are requesting that we pray with them that this extreme skepticism about the North will be broken.

And here’s an interesting answer to our prayers; since our return last year, we have been praying that someone from our church community (Newsong) would go on this trip with us. We even moved our departure date back a week, to accommodate the schedule of the university most of them attend. Well, no one applied… or so we thought. It turns out a young lady from Newsong LA, one of our sister churches, is going on the Discovery trip to the Solomon Islands! So we’re pretty excited… and hoping to meet her and spend some time with her before we all depart.

Thanks so much for your prayers; they have encouraged us so much these past months and are continually needed as we prepare for Ghana Discovery 2012!
