October in Southern
California; a lovely time of year that we often are not around to experience.
We are taking it all in, enjoying biking to the office, sitting in our garden
for meals and even spending the occasional day at the beach. It is a calm and restorative
season for us as we spend an extended period of time here, working down our
to-do lists at both work and at home and spending time with people we know and
love.
At the Discovery
office we are moving from a work-among-the-boxes look to a more inviting
atmosphere as we now have time to sort through so much that has remained packed
since the move back in March. It is also a time for corporate to do’s (figuring
out our new support quota, having our annual job performance reviews, etc.)
and…this is the most fun part….calling our Discovery 2012 participants and
hearing how they are doing a couple of months into re-entry. It is great to be
able to re-connect and pray with them again!
Speaking of prayer –
here are some items we would appreciate your praying about with us during the
coming month:
· Staff transitions –
One of our Discovery staff members is going to be moving on to something else
in the very near future, so John is talking with a couple of people who are
considering joining us. We need wisdom and discernment for all
concerned.
· 2013 trips-
o Three are currently
lined up; 2 more are still possible but need to come together soon if they are
going to happen. Wisdom desired again here….and that God will bring
together what is best for His will to be accomplished.
o One of the trips
being planned is to Central African Republic; it is a bit complex on a number
of fronts. One of the big issues is the need for a French speaking leader.
This trip feels very God driven (for just one example, it was not at all “our”
idea; we met a translator from CAR while in Ghana who asked us to come and
train leaders to do Discovery there,) but there are some obstacles to overcome.
So…once again…if you would please pray for wisdom and God’s will to be
accomplished here, we would be so appreciative!
Thanks so much for
partnering with us in prayer!
