Saying hello....and goodbye!

It’s been a month of send offs;  not only has John been preparing for his own upcoming departure to South Asia, but he has also gone to LAX twice to be with Discovery teams on their way to Papua New Guinea and South East Asia.  He really enjoys meeting face to face with participants he has been communicating with via phone and computer since their initial contacts with us about Discovery trips, and to be there to share in their excitement now that they are finally on their way.  Hanging out with the PNG team had a special bonus; a reunion with Danielle (the young lady in the denim jacket) who was a participant on his trip to Benin last year….and is now one of the leaders of this trip!  So awesome!

Although remaining stateside, I (Shevawn) have been doing my share of traveling as well.  Towards the end of May John and I visited some of our ministry partners and attended a beloved niece’s wedding a few hours north of us; such a fun time of re-connection!  Now I am preparing for another trip to Seattle to attend our daughter Leanna’s graduation; John will be there too, but will be flying out of Washington the following day to begin his Discovery trip.  I am super excited that our son Jordan and his wife Youngju will be there with us as we celebrate our daughters achievement, and afterwards will join me in SoCal for some time as well.  You can be sure pictures will be posted on our blog later of our time together. J

The prayer requests we previously sent out on our prayer letter are still what we would like to ask you to pray for through the beginning of August; I’ll add them here once more for your convenience:

·         For John as the training leader of the South Asia Discovery team; for wisdom, “people energy”, times of refreshment and rest as needed as well as peace in the midst of constant change and challenges.
·         For the other Discoverers and their leaders in South East Asia, Brazil, Indonesia, Romania and Papua New Guinea.  Please pray that although the number of Discoverers are fewer than usual this summer, that many of them will go on to further involvement with Bible Translation.
·         For Shevawn as she holds down the fort both in the office and at home
