A new opportunity we're excited about
Yes, it’s true; recently we agreed to go to Urbana
this year for our very first time! For
those of you wondering what in the world Urbana
is, it’s a student mission’s conference that is hosted by Intervarsity every
three years; this particular Urbana will be its 24th gathering! Urbana is a space set apart to all attendees to
fully focus on God, his global mission, and his will for their lives. Wycliffe Bible Translators will be one of over
250 Missions organizations that will be there interacting with 16,000
participants; at Urbana, we will have the opportunity to engage one of the most
diverse student populations at a missions-focused event.
Even though going to Urbana will mean a very different
holiday season for us, we are getting more and more excited as we realize
that what we will be “doing” at Urbana is so similar to what we “do” in
Discover: we’ll listen to those who visit our booth and find out where their passions
and gifting lie, regardless of whether it leads them to another missions
organization. Helping young people move
forward into where God is leading them; it’s been one of our major passions for
seventeen years now and what so many of our partners have encouraged us on
in. What an exciting opportunity!
We are seeking a few people who will pray for our
involvement as we begin preparations as well as throughout our time
there. Would you please let us know if
you would be willing to be one of those people so we can arrange specific
Urbana prayer updates to come your way? Thanks
so much!
