What are the Ika people waiting for?

 OK, I have written a lot recently about what other colleagues have been up to in Nigeria and elsewhere.  But, you ask:
"What have the Ramseys been doing?"

One of the translation projects in Nigeria that John has been assigned to coordinate is the Ika Old Testament project.  John met Dr Chinedu , the project coordinator in Nigeria in November (I just realized that I have no photographic evidence of this).  This project is well established and is slated to be completed in late 2017.  Please take note of some prayer requests below for the project.

Here is just a bit of  the back translation of 1st Kings that is ready for a consultant to check for accuracy. This is done so a consultant who doesn't understand Ika can do checking in a common language.

1 Kings 17:15-16 Ika with literal back translation in English

T: 15 Ya kẹ okpoho hụ nọ jẹnmẹ, ọ nọ mẹ kẹ Ẹlaịja dọn gwa a; ya kẹ

L: 15 So the woman went, she then did as Elijah had told her, so then

T: Elaịja lẹ okpoho ahụn lẹ ikp'ụlọ okpoho ahụn nọ nwan rị a hụn

L: Elijah and that woman and houshold of that woman then now seeing

T: ihiẹn-oriri e ri ụhụọhịn ile. 16 Makẹni, ọka rị imẹ ẹkpoko hụ

L: food to eat all the day. 16 Because, corn inside calabash that

T: agụnị, ofugbọn-olivu akọnị imẹ ọgọ ofugbọn hụ. Ẹrịra kẹ oku

L: was not finished, olive-oil did not dry up inside bottle that. That was how word

T: Osolobuẹ gi Ẹlịja ku dọn bụn.

L: God used Elijah to say did happen.
