Kidnapping

This hit home with me, as I've spent time in this village, I've walked the paths, greeted the leaders and sat with neighbors, I attended church and celebrated at a local wedding. And even now despite the corona virus, despite growing terrorist activity, people continue living their day to day lives.

One of our Discovery alumni chose to follow God's leading to serve as a Bible translator in West Africa.

Recently eight people working in a nearby people group were kidnapped... and so, the security concerns are growing… Two days ago one of those kidnapped, managed to escape by running into a nearby community only minutes away from where the Discovery alumni are working. So it seems likely those who terrorize this region are closer than anyone knew.

Now, mission leaders have asked our alumni to prayerfully consider relocating. Stress levels are high, sleepless nights are now the norm.

Please join us in prayer for this situation;
  • the villagers who think the corona virus will not affect them
  • for the kidnappers to be brought to justice
  • the captives to be released safely soon
  • for our Discovery alumni to follow the wisdom of their leaders
  • provision of increased financial support needed for the alumni to move and live in a city
  • the region and people being affected and suffering under injustice and terrorism
