Ghana Discovery update;-)

On Thursday 14th July, John will travel to the town of Buipe with Pastor
Asare and Pastor Eric. There are 2 purposes for this trip:
One reason is to visit Clemence and Matthew; 2 of our Discovery team members
who are assisting in the Gonja Old Testament language project. From what
I've gathered, Clemence has been typing the book of Jeremiah and Matthew has
been drawing pictures for the book of Ruth... they (like our other team
members) combine this ministry with a lot of observation and language
learning and culture learning, etc... All reports indicate they are doing
very well.
The 2nd reason is to accompany Johnson & Eric who plan to partner with
GILLBT to complete the Gonja OT in the next 10 years as well as do adult
literacy and church planting among this people group! Very exciting and
eternal work, eh?

here's some other Discovery news updates;

-We've received invitations to send Discovery trips to Ghana in 2006 as well
as preliminary positive responses for 2 trips to SE Asia. Please continue
to pray for other 2006 trips still in the planning/discussion stages.

-The Tamale Trio (serving in the Scripture Use office and teaching English)
Lamptey, Michael & Daniel returned safely from their successful trip to
Banda last weekend to train workers and launch the "Faith Comes By Hearing"
Chumburung New Testament on cassette. We had them over to dinner for "Obruni
food" (chocolate chip pancakes) Monday night so we could hear their stories
and for a mid-trip treat. (Shevawn baked brownies for our 4 village based
Discoverers... for their mid trip treat... what a good Discovery mom, eh?)!

-The Tuna (Vagla language) team enjoyed a safe and interesting trip to Soma
village, please continue to pray for good relationships with the people they
interact with.

-The Bole team (Safaliba language) (previously called the Mandari team),
pray for continued good language/culture learning since they are living a
bit of distance from the town of Bole. While in Bole they will be assisting
Samuel (Discovery 2002) on his Safaliba dictionary and some other linguistic
related projects.

-The Cheriponi team (Anufo language), pray they'll remain focused on God and
persevere to finish their project time well. We praise God for the laptop
computer that was donated to the Anufo language project by a Discovery
alumni who served in this project in 2003!

-The discovery leadership team; pray as we continue to finalize our debrief
plans combined with building and enriching the good relationships we have
with our Ghanaian Bible translation colleagues. We continue to be blessed
by working with Solomon (PaaSolo) as part of our leadership, he is a joy to
work with! Pray for PaaSolo as he combines his Discovery ministry with his
Scripture Use ministry.

-Jordan is still volunteering in the William Addai Leadership University in
Kumasi. Pray for him to learn a lot in his internship there and for God's
choice of assignment locations when he joins the Peace Corps this fall
(somewhere in Sub-Saharan Africa). We hope Jordan will be able to come to
Tamale for a few days later this month and then join our Discovery team for
a few days of Debrief and travel.

If you are still reading this... it's likely you love us a lot and also pray
for this ministry as we Mobilize Future Bible Translators to accomplish
"Vision 2025 to start a Bible translation in every language that needs it by
the year 2025"

Thanks to you who help to support this ministry financially! Summertime is
typically a time when ministry finances are short and yet our expenses
continue... We ask you to consider prayerfully supporting our Discovery
ministry by going to www.wycliffe.org/giving (just ask us if you need more
detailed instructions or other options for giving) This ministry is a
partnership and we know we are not alone for which we are grateful.
Thanks to you all for partnering with us,
john & shevawn
