Prayer update
We are in the midst of one
of those times we all experience now and then when your daily life (your
routine, your plans, your relationships) all get put on hold while you focus on
something that has unexpectedly come to demand your attention. For us, it
was the earlier-than- expected birth of our first grand-child, George. As
I was out walking on the evening of January 31st, our daughter
phoned from a Seattle hospital to say that what had up until then seemed like a
routine pregnancy was about to end with an emergency C-section. A short
time later, George arrived; all 3 pounds, 3 ounces of him. He was taken
to the NICU, where he currently lives and will likely be for many weeks.
Eight days later John and I arrived in Seattle to do what we could to help
support and encourage them; this past Tuesday John returned to California and
the Discovery office, while I remained in Washington. We don’t know how
long I will be here; George has had some significant eating and respiratory
issues, and the Dr.’s are still trying to problem solve as they figure
out how to best help him grow and heal. Meanwhile, Leanna is also
recovering physically…and both of George’s parents are healing emotionally
while beginning to get into some kind of routine/rhythm that involves work for
Mark and visiting George at the NICU for both of them. I am truly
thankful that I can be here at this time in order to run errands, help around
the house and offer some emotional support. Now that things are beginning
to settle a bit, I am hopeful I will be able to get back into my Wycliffe
responsibilities as well (thanks to my laptop, I am able to work as I sit here
in the NICU family room a couple of hours a day.) Sooo…..that’s what is
happening in our lives! Here are some ways we invite you to join us in
prayer:
- Please pray for Leanna, Mark and
baby George; for healing for all...and for wisdom for the Dr.’s who are
taking care of George. Please pray for strength for Leanna and Mark
emotionally as they journey through the ups and downs of having a baby in
the NICU for many weeks. (If
you want to know how George is doing on a frequent basis, please check our
Facebook wall: https://www.facebook.com/RamseyDiscoveries
- For Shevawn; for strength and
patience to be a good support to them. For wisdom for good self-care
and for opportunities to do her Wycliffe work and the ability to be able to
focus when she has those opportunities.
- For John; who always has a lot on
his plate this time of year as he interviews applicants and takes care of
other discovery issues (some of which I mentioned above). In
addition to these things, he also has to pick up on some of my work, as
well as find a new place to move our Discovery office to by the end of
March.
- We are thankful to report that
since sending out our prayer letter, we believe we have our two Ghanaian
co-leaders for our 2012 trip lined up. However, we still are lacking
leaders for some of the other trips; we may even have to cancel one of the
planned trips if leaders do not materialize soon.
Thank so very, very much for your prayers!
In His love
Shevawn & John
