Partnerships make it possible

Everything we do is through partnerships!

These Discoverers from 3 countries are an early example of our involvement in partnerships. They served in the same language project in Ghana.

Partnerships are not new to Bible translation or to missions... but we do seem to be getting better at creating and sustaining good partnerships. And by good partnerships, I mean ones that are mutually beneficial and synergistic. We can do such amazing things through partnerships that we never could alone.

This is the promised follow-up to my blog post called "Do you still read a print Bible?"
It has taken me longer than expected to write this... because #Life

Just to recap briefly, I was talking about recently seeing over 500 minority language Bibles for sale on Amazon and the partnerships necessary to publish and make these available.

OK, this is my simplified layman's view of how this is even possible:
Digital Bible Society (DBS) is selling these Bibles in a print-on-demand basis. But in order for DBS to gain access to these minority language Bibles, lots of partnership is happening behind the scenes.

Back around 2012 some of the largest Bible agencies came together to form Every Tribe Every Nation (ETEN)
The current implementing partners are:

A key component of ETEN was the creation of the Digital Bible Library (DBL) which is a pretty descriptive name. Their goal was to aggregate and make available Scriptures in an accessible digital format. DBL offers library cards to authorized users. Here's one example that many of us are familiar with: the YouVersion Bible app or Bible.com. Well, this app with Scripture in over 1,134 languages  gets access to the DBL because they have a DBL library card.  Pretty cool, eh?

Well... as you can imagine, there are more partnerships happening to make this and other efforts even more awesome. There is a Forum of Bible Agencies with over 25 members and there are over 100 content contributes to the Digital Bible Library. Wow!

The digital age and the Internet are certainly changing the world we live in and both the information we have and how we access it. One thing is certain, technology can be used for good.

What are you using the Internet (or your smart phone) for today?
