A crazy compliment

The Palm Sunday service was drawing to a close as a young lady we had never noticed before came up and introduced herself to us. We soon learned that our new friend was majoring in cross cultural studies and medicine at a Christian university which a number of our Discovery participants have come from. We were all pretty excited as we discussed her future plans and told her about our Discovery trips. As the conversation drew to a close, I asked her how come she came up and introduced herself to us in the first place; her reply both made us laugh and encouraged us. She said that she had been noticing other college students interacting with us after services for a while, that we seemed somehow “different” from other non-students and so she wanted to meet us herself! How awesome is that? (By the way, we told her we took the “different” comment as quite a compliment!)

We are so thankful for your prayers and how in some mysterious way they open up opportunities we could never arrange ourselves! As we move into the next month, here are some additional ways you can join us in prayer and praise:

African Discovery trip – It’s official: John is planning to take a team to Benin this summer. Things are firming up; it looks like he has enough participants to make the team viable and details are being worked out with his co-leader in Benin. We are so thankful for the opportunity to take a team to this francophone country; current prayer requests include progress regarding the team’s pre-orientation which has not begun yet, and we are usually well into it by now. Also John would like to be able to learn some greetings in French before he departs for Benin.

Discovery On-Line Application Process- The major issues this month seem to be involving processing our participant’s trip funds. We would appreciate your prayers for wisdom for those trying to work out the problems as it makes it really hard to be able to keep track of how their support raising is going.

Team Leader Training – John and Ryan have recently completed training the team leaders for the 2013 trips: please pray that the training will be helpful for all involved.

Other “stuff” – Shevawn has been focusing on revising our Orientation curriculum from last year’s trip, interacting with Discovery alumni and keeping in touch with our supporters in various ways. We are thankful for a peaceful month without any travel that has enabled much progress to be made in so many areas.

We appreciate your continued partnership in prayer with us!
